About Us – biswabangalee.com
Preserving the Spirit of Bengali Identity Through Stories, Voices, and Everyday Heritage
Who We Are
Biswabangalee.com is a digital storytelling platform that celebrates the collective identity, emotional history, and evolving culture of Bengalis around the world.
We document, archive, and share stories that span generations, geographies, and genres — from the rhythm of Bangla proverbs to the voices of craftspeople, from forgotten recipes to the legacy of partition, and from city lanes to village courtyards.
Here, food is more than a recipe. A sound is more than background. And memory is more than nostalgia — it is a living archive.
What We Do
- ➤ Collect Voices: Audio interviews, oral histories, and community conversations
- ➤ Curate Stories: Personal narratives, cultural essays, and memory-led reflections
- ➤ Visual Heritage: Illustrated slides, hand-drawn maps, local photo essays
- ➤ Multimedia Narratives: Voiceover videos, web stories, and emotional walkthroughs
- ➤ Bilingual Publishing: We publish in both English and Bangla (বাংলা)
Why “Biswabangalee”?
The name “Biswa Bangalee” (Global Bengali) reflects the spirit of a people who carry their language, emotions, and rituals — wherever they go. Whether in Kolkata or Chicago, Barasat or Berlin, a Bengali is never rootless — they’re just waiting to tell you a story.
This platform is for all of us — the daughters, sons, grandparents, migrants, listeners, and storytellers.
Our Mission
To create a non-commercial, emotionally grounded, and culturally rich archive that makes every Bengali — old or young — feel seen, heard, and remembered.
We want this platform to become a virtual adda, a library of warmth, and a bridge between generations.
Who’s Behind This
Biswabangalee.com is lovingly curated by Barnali Dutta, a storyteller, researcher, and cultural archivist who believes in the power of memory, language, and human connection — preserving Bengali stories, unsung heroes, and lived heritage through emotion-rich narratives that speak to generations across the globe.
The platform is lovingly managed with the help of a small circle of artists, archivists, listeners, and digital collaborators.
